Abstract

This paper discusses the American Dream in Lacanian perspective. Thus, the play of Arthur Millar The Death of a Salesman has been analyzed and discussed in order to comprehend the concept of Desire as it has been portrayed in Lacan's theory and how the American Dream related to this concept. The paper concludes with that Miller's reasoning marries with the Lacanian idea that human desires are self-reciprocating and cannot be fully achieved.
